“The measure of AI isn’t what machines can do — it’s what they free people to be. For the first time in history, intelligence belongs to everyone, not just the elite. That is banking’s opportunity: sharper judgment, deeper trust, and prosperity within reach of every community. Humanity, undefeated.”

About Allyn

Allyn L. Shaw leads business execution, performance, and risk for Technology, Data & Operations at Truist — a division of roughly 23,000 technologists and operators serving one of the largest banks in the United States. His mandate spans technology execution, performance management, risk, and transformation, including the responsible adoption of generative and agentic AI inside a regulated banking environment.

His career spans more than three decades at the intersection of technology, operations, and risk: chief operating roles across Bank of America and Wells Fargo, a turn as President and CTO of a climate-technology company, and early engineering years building real-time networks at NTT and Sprint. The through-line is the business of technology — making large institutions execute with the discipline regulators demand and the imagination customers expect.

Beyond banking, Allyn serves as a speaker for the U.S. Department of State, engaging global audiences on cybersecurity, technology governance, and inclusive economies. He holds a U.S. patent in advanced computing and chairs the board of Out & Equal, the world’s largest organization dedicated to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.

Technology is a force for good when the people building it reflect the world it serves. That conviction has shaped every role he’s held — and every one still ahead.

The Thread

From Compton to the C-suite.

Allyn was born in Compton, California. Colin Powell’s example led him to ROTC; Maya Angelou’s Still I Rise still steadies him in hard moments. What he took from both: discipline, and the value of owning your own narrative — your voice.

That voice now carries into boardrooms, embassies, and the teams he leads — and, literally, onto the stage: he’s a trained classical vocalist and a competitive USTA tennis player. The story isn’t distance traveled. It’s what gets built for the people coming next.
